Decorative Glass

These short glass candlesticks were yet another purchase from the thrift shop and since buying them I have been a bit obsessed in the idea of collecting a whole range of other decorative glass.

Candlesticks can be used as a general home accessory or incorporated to create a fantastic table centrepiece. I personally like the idea of collecting a variety of vintage coloured glass candlesticks in a selection of heights to make a wonderfully dramatic decoration as pictured below.

If using plain glass, try adding colour in your choice of candle to enhance your surroundings.

Glass bottles have always been another alternative for holding candles (I've seen plenty of diy wine bottles used in restaurants!) however the image below shows just how chic this diy idea can look. By using plain, clean glass this wall of light across the table seems elegant and not obstructive.

Of course I can't ignore the other great transformation of a glass bottle into a quick and inexpensive vase. Here they also have the potential to create an effortlessly stylish decoration as this display shows.

Another fab idea I found on the internet is the use of test tubes for mini vases. These are particularly cute and have been accessorised in an ingenious way to add colour, texture and enable them to stand. What a great creation using test tubes and balls of thread!

Design Sponge at Home

I have been a big fan of the Design Sponge blog since I discovered it a couple of years ago and so was very excited to hear they had squeezed all the brilliance of the website into a book!
Keeping the main features of the website the book is divided into chapters entitled Sneak Peeks, DIY Projects, DIY Basics, Flower Workshop and my personal favourite Before & After.
Here are my photos to share...

 Sneak Peeks
(A rather brilliant way to have a nose around some stylish interiors!)

 Perfect space saving solution

Bold and chic, you just know from that exterior the rest is going to be good!
